You are a star, no matter who you are
dark and pulsing, or a light seen from afar
you are a body, gravitationally bound
bending space and time, often unfound
by the naked eye, by the inquisitive visitor
felt, but not seen.
A gravitational force, an influence on others
whether they know it or not as they pass by
Healthy you shine, particles to others
they warm to your touch and orbit your strength
And in joy… influenced by another
a celestial dance with brother, sister, or lover
You are A Star by Thomas Derr
You are a star, no matter who you are
celestial pathways you trace, influences from afar
some bodies not seen, dark holes in the sky
they suck you in whole or by small pieces as they fly
out of your being, out of your sight
your spirit deflated in the dark of the night.
We influence each other in sight or unseen
and change our paths sharing particles between
of love, of hate, lasting impression now made
a part of us, a part of you
a part of me, left in view
by the path that we have altered
Through this paper telescope I shine upon your eye
through your sounds, your smells, even invisible as i
pass through your space, your thoughts and feelings
gravitational waves, infinitesimally small – or planet reeling
you never escape the influence of another
touched form near or from afar
you – you are a star, no matter who you are. | TD
