To the Kid That Never Existed:
To the kid that was never around enough. To the kid that wasn’t around long enough to have a friend. To the kid that wasn’t ever anywhere long enough for anyone to care that now he’s gone. This is a letter to you.
Hey there kid, yeah, the one no one picks, always been the new kid. Look here kid, let me tell you a few things. You’ve got to listen closely. Because there’s probably not too many people in your life to tell you this.
I know things are hard now. Things always seem unfair. The hurt and sadness try to take you away. The pain doesn’t hurt anymore.
One day kid, you’ll stand tall. One day no one will be able to get to you anymore. One day the people who “love you” won’t hurt you anymore. One day kiddo, all the “no’s” in the world won’t be able to stop you. One day kid, you won’t be scared of those monsters you hid from for all that time. One day kid, you won’t have to run from anyone. One day kid, you’ll be the kind of brave you prayed for. The kind of brave that you wanted to save you.
Hey kid, don’t worry about the small things. Hey kid, don’t let people drive you to do the wrong things. I know no one ever really showed you right from wrong. Listen to your heart, kid. You don’t have to get high on the pain and the chaos.
Damn kid, don’t walk the rugged path. Man kid, don’t hold on to that pain like I did.
Hey, don’t let that anger run you like I did. I know you don’t know how to trust anyone right now. But damn kid. Trust me when I say you are built for greatness. Trust me.
You don’t have to hurt people because you are hurting now. Trust me kid, tell someone! Trust someone enough to help yourself. I know you don’t have anyone who you think really cares about you. I know you do. Hey kid, it’s OK to be scared, it’s OK to feel fear. It’s a good motivator. Just don’t live there.
Kid, listen to me, I know you want to be cool. I know you want to fit in. I know you want friends. I know you want to feel that you are good enough to love. Trust me kiddo, you are enough, you can be loved, you don’t have to be something you are not.
Trust me kid, hold your head up. Trust me kiddo, you’ll be great. | PT
