This reflection of introspection
Takes my mind to ease
As I stare into the glass
An unbroken expanse of truth
This lake of perception.
Orange and browning leaves alright
Cascading gentle parachutes connection.
Broken surface, concentric circles of change
Racing outward to familiar shores
Seen anew in morning’s shine
My mind, this time
Where would I be without you?
Circumstance, environment, who knew.
Created as a gleaming crown
The darkness of a town
Preciously growing brains
Led by the violent and insane
“The Devil’s Playground”
A So Cal noun
Just boys seeking adventure …
Misplaced and unguided energies
Led by misplaced and unguided products
Led by misplaced and unguided, and next,
And next, and “Next! Take on orange and
Sit down on the cement bench. No Talking!”
Nameless, I remember your face
Uniform, big brass “A” key, OC pepper spray,
I was 13, it was the 90s
Gangsters and guards thought they could try me.
Come back, come back, back to the lake.
I silently hope it’s not too late
I write this to you,
The young smiling boy
That the schoolwork was too easy for
Don’t ditch the class
Don’t sneak out the door
I know you just wanna run,
Run free like a wolf, not be bored
But wander not into darkness,
Those cold fearful streets.
No knives, no guns
No stealing for fun.
“Listen to your mother,”
As she was fond to say.
Be back indoors
By the end of day
Stay away from the poison,
The dope and alcohol
You’ll wind up in prison
And that’ll be all.
Reach for the stars
Of properly completed assignments
Get them all stuck on the wall,
There in that comfortable classroom
The gold that waits in shadows
has no glimmer at all
Adverse concepts lacking granularity
You might not know what that means yet,
But you’ll get there with me …
Sometimes the mind seems like madness.
And what the trip is
You actually can hear me now.
But where was I then?
Hell, maybe I wouldn’t change a thing;
For who I am is where I’ve been.
But now that we have, we are, and we went,
Perhaps sent this letter back
Change energies spent.
Paradigm shift, cosmic net;
Et Lux in Tenebris Lucet … | CL

Lots to unpack in this closing verse. Great thought.
