I stare at a stone-cold wall,
it glares back, reflecting my blinding rage.
My naked eyes helplessly exposed, lids fall
slowly, immediately like an umbrella collapsing,
an eternal link caught in slow-mo time escaping.
Bending, twisting, images I no longer recall,
purposeless suffering … this time in a cage.
I conjure the courage, I must, I must stand tall. | RM
