The NEAR and FAR cards were printed by Cumbersome Multiples Press on a 1928 Chandler & Price letterpress using antique wooden type. PonyXpress writers wrote a response to the word on the cover. The cards were passed to the next writers and they used the prompt to write on the back.

I wrote a letter to my brother in Black Ink —
Just think, I never knew I had a brother until last week

Don’t blink too long. Next week I could write a song about
a brother I never knew — Black Ink — Thank you
now the secrets are revealed, past lies put to rest. Black
Ink — thank you — that’s one less lie to hide — Brother — this was written in blue,
