It’s all Hallow’s Eve and the streets are full,
Abounding with giants, and goblins, and ghouls.
The dank misty night hangs heavy with chill
As the bright Harvest Moon reflects in small pools.
The costume-clad children hold tight to their bags
As they brave ill-lighted streets of spooky decor.
Some armed with pranks, and others with gags,
As they ring and they knock on each shuttered door.
Their smiles bely their hearts so unsure ...
They barter, they tender ... the trick merely threat.
The gamble pays off, and with treat well secure,
The scurrying small voices scream, “What did you get!?”
So precious the smiles on each girl and boy ...
So heartfelt the pleasure of Autumn’s pure joy! | RM
