I went through life with so many
assumptions,
I assumed I had to become hardened so
I would be accepted.
My many traumas helped create many masks,
I assumed I had to wear them,
with each mask I transformed into their
perception.
I was lost,
I assumed I had to be that,
I formed a relationship with God and my
world changed.
I put a mask on,
I didn’t recognize it,
I assumed prison did that,
My journey with Jesus did that,
I found out those masks don’t fit anymore,
My assumption of love was distorted,
Being accepted by the wrong ones was a
lesson hard learned,
Being free from myself I was able to break
the chains I enslaved myself with,
There is no more assumption, I now know
love and freedom. | MW
