I look around and all I see,
Are these strangers all around me.
I see the pain in their faces,
Searching for peace in these places.
They’re all so young yet look so old,
From living in this world so cold.
It pains me as I take a look,
At all the things this world has took.
Artist’s hands bloody in violence,
Beautiful voices now silenced.
Drugs a mirage as to what’s real,
Alcohol hiding how we feel.
We do this to hide lies we’ve told,
While living in this world so cold.
Children lay hungry in the street,
Their mothers’ tears fall in defeat.
One father works his hand to bone,
Another left them never known.
They live each day in this danger,
Their only shield hateful anger.
My only wish is to be bold,
As these kids in this world so cold.
Looking ahead to better days,
When I’m finally free of this maze.
Knowing the truth behind their lies,
Their haze no longer clouds my eyes.
Not needing all these lies I’ve told,
I’ll make it through this world so cold. | MDKS

Heart breaking. And beautifully moving. Thanks for sharing.
